His sister calls him Shiro-niichan Codename: Sunfire Age: 21 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Japanese Mutant Abilities: Sunfire can biochemically ionize matter and convert it into the super-heated plasma state of matter, generating temperatures of about 1,000,000ยบ Fahrenheit which he most often releases as force blasts from his hands. Sunfire can recharge and enhance his stored power by absorbing both solar and electromagnetic energy. He can also view his surroundings in the infrared spectrum. Sunfire can create super-heated air currents which enable him to fly while leaving a trail of flame behind him. Sunfire also generates an invisible field of psionic energy which protects him from the heat and radiation generated by his own powers, as well as from outside sources. The field also shields him from air friction and the light generated by his plasma, as well as lending a certain level of protection from kinetic impact. He also wears side burns, although they're hidden when he wears his hair down. Clothing Styles/Colors: When not in uniform, Shiro is a somewhat snappy dresser. He prefers the style of many in the Yakuza; a sort of revived 1920's style gangster crossed with Colombian drug lord for good measure. He will wear hats, especially fedoras and silk button down shirts with stylish pants, and jackets (especially trenchcoats). He also likes to wear sunglasses, anything that makes him appear to be more confident in himself. He tends towards wearing rich colors like red especially but he also wears a considerable amount of black. His uniform is lined with orange. Other: [ PERSONALITY ] General Likes: Pretty much all food but especially curry and pizza but never together. He enjoys good competition when available, especially sparring, whether it is with his mutant ability, kendo, or karate. He loves his country and feels an intense pride from that. He likes his father and highly respects him but tries desperately to hide this fact by calling him "The Old Man" or mouthing off to him whenever possible, even over silly things. He likes his sister and he is protective of her. He also likes certain vices like cigarette smoking and drinking alcohol. He likes women and has a weakness for them even though he usually frightens most away with his temper if they get to know him too well. He likes sunbathing and going to the beach but this is because the sun energizes him. General Dislikes: He hates annoying people. He also hates being told what to do and has problems with authority. He hates having a distinct schedule so really hates school. He hates waiting because he can be especially impatient sometimes. He hates when people touch his stuff or says anything bad about things above. His past is something else he dislikes as well and hates to talk about it even more. His uncle Tomo is someone else he dislikes. He also has a dislike and a distrust of most humans. This has to do with the fact he was strongly anti-mutant before he changed and remembers those people and has come to connect them to all humans. There are Exceptions. His father is one. Skills Mastered: Ever since Shiro was little, he took lessons in kendo and karate and is excellent in both of them. However, his temper sometimes gets in the way. He speaks fluent English, although he still makes mistakes sometimes. He also knows passable German, French, and Italian because of the traveling he did with his father and when he lived in Geneva when a little boy. Astrological Sign: Leo (August 6) Sexual Orientation: Strongly Heterosexual Positive Traits: Shiro has a strong sense of loyalty. This comes with a clause which will be covered in Negative traits. He also has a strong intensity which means when he puts his mind to something, he does a wonderful job and takes no short cuts. He hates seeing the weak get punished so has a huge soft spot for women and children although he does try to hide it. Negative Traits: Shiro has major trust issues. It is very hard to gain his loyalty and it must not be jeopardized. If he feels betrayed, he holds a huge grudge and can be somewhat vindictive. He has a fiery temper akin to his power that many may feel intimidated against. It doesn't help that he is also somewhat overly sensitive and takes almost everything personally. Shiro is considered rude by even American standards which makes him super rude by Japanese standards. He's blunt and to the point, sometimes eating his own foot like it were a hamburger with extra pickles. [ ETC ] Personal History: Shiro Yoshida was born on August 6th, 1987 to Saburo and Riiko Yoshida in Hiroshima, Japan. There wasn't anything particularly spectacular about his birth except for maybe it was the anniversary of the atomic bomb being dropped on the city. His family was wealthy, mainly because his father was the Japanese ambassador to the United Nations. Riiko was just a housewife. He spent the first seven years of his life with his parents in Switzerland and Belgium, going back home to Japan for holidays and business meetings. When Shiro was five, his parents had another child named Leyu. Shiro quickly took on the task of being big brother. When he turned six, Saburo and Riiko put him in kendo and karate classes. Shiro, who was always an active child, loved these lessons. When Shiro was seven, his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer which caused Saburo to send her and the children back to Japan to live with his brother in Kobe so she could receive treatment. Shiro's uncle Tomo was a very negative person who worked as a lobbyist for anti-mutant causes and also ran his own publication against the evils of mutants. He preached his ideals of society at his niece and nephew while he took care of Shiro's mother, somewhat half heartedly. After suffering a year from the disease, Riiko finally passed away. Saburo and his children were devastated but Shiro began to undergo a personality change shortly after that. He became more overly sensitive about subjects. His temper got worse. His grades began to slip. Saburo was busy mourning the death of his wife to notice his son beginning to take a spiral downward. Soon he had to get back to work but he decided to keep his children in Japan with his brother. Leyu was the only one who showed any real strength but that was probably because she was young and couldn't understand most of it. Shiro needed an outlet to get his rage out so he focused heavily in his martial arts and helped his uncle on his causes. It became easy to focus his anger on mutants. It was an easy scapegoat. He hadn't known any mutant that harmed him in anyway but they were still an easy target. He developed an explosive temper, which at times felt like intense heat was building inside him but failed to come out. It was this sensation that made him more irritable. He got into a lot of fights in school and actually got expelled from two for repeated incidences. When he reached his teenage years, that fire in his belly so to speak increased. He tried to hold it down, for his sister's sake, but it never seemed to work. He argued with his Uncle a lot, to the point that some of their fights turned physical. He talked with his father mostly on the phone. Sometimes Shiro got so angry at his father's lecturing, he'd hang up but Saburo was least likely to set off Shiro's temper. Leyu could actually neutralize Shiro's temper tantrums. Shiro was 16 when his powers came forth. He was attending the last school in the region who hadn't kicked him out and he met there and fell in love with a girl there named Fuuko Omura. She was patient with him and tried to help him to control his temper. She didn't seem to be afraid of him since he got a huge reputation, most of it exaggerated, about his delinquencies. He honestly tried to keep his temper just for her and seemed to be gaining everything under control. One night, after the two had sunbathed watching the clouds for most of the afternoon, they got lost on their way back. They were ambushed by a gang who Shiro tried desperately to fight off but there was too many of them. Fuuko and Shiro were separated by the gang making mention of having fun with Fuuko. As he heard her scream, he felt that "fire" in his belly expand out as his anger peeked he couldn't protect the girl he loved. Next, all he saw was red; a red that was a fire but not a fire, sort of a liquid fire. When it cleared, the guys who had surrounded him were chard to barely recognizable crisps. His finger tips seemed to glow with the discharge. As he looked over to where Fuuko was, the two guys on her let go and ran off. He looked at Fuuko and saw the surprise and fear in her eyes. He looked down back at his hands and looked back at her. She wouldn't move. All Shiro could see through years of being raised around anti-mutant propaganda, was he was a freak and Fuuko probably didn't like him for that. He spun around and ran away from her. Shiro found he could not go back home because of what he now was so slipped into the Japanese underground. He got involved in local gangs where he earned his nickname Hikagi, or translated is Sunfire. He became a fighter for hire, passed from gang to gang because of his mutant abilities. Meanwhile, his uncle had no idea that this new menace known as Hikagi was in fact his nephew. He spoke out against mutants in gangs and showed that it was further proof that mutants had to be eliminated or at least contained. He also theorized that his missing nephew was a casualty. Fuuko fueled that belief by saying this mysterious Hikagi stepped in and stopped the fight that night but Shiro was in the blast. She still cared about him deeply but didn't know where he was or if she could even reach him. When news about the cure came out in 2008, Shiro reached a conundrum. Should he take the cure and be cured of the ability that gave him so much work? Or should he just continue living underground? He found he couldn't face the world so stayed firmly where he was; a mutant. Saburo tried desperately to find his son. After doing some detective work on his own, he found out through Fuuko where Shiro was and what actually happened that day. So his son was a mutant. Since he was apart of the UN, he heard word about Professor Xavier and his connections within the mutant community. He seeked Professor X out and through him, Saburo found out exactly where his son was. His son was blending in in Tokyo. Finding Shiro, Saburo sat his son down to talk offering to help him out of the hole he had dug himself into. He told Shiro about the Xavier Institute where he had many opportunities. After a long discussion, Shiro agreed to his father to be "rehabilitated", meaning giving up his gang lifestyle and become a functioning member of society by graduating from high school and going to college. Saburo asked for the institute to teach his son in both academics so he can get his high school degree and in developing his abilities and also for protection. Shiro didn't initially want to go back to school but his father seemed so insistent. He was 21 after all and had two years of High School to complete. So around February, the mutant known as Sunfire moved to Xavier's to begin his rehabilitation to life of good. Extra: I know I'm stretching his background a bit but his actual background only fit back in the 70's I found. Then again, this is movie canon!
